The project
About
QiblaMosk is an independent guide devoted to the twenty most remarkable mosques in the world. Our approach: to tell the story of each building as a narrative, its patron, its builders, its legends, rather than listing technical specifications.
Our editorial method
Texts are written based on published historical and architectural knowledge; anecdotes flagged as legends are presented as such. The site is designed to be fast, minimal and accessible: no visual resources are loaded from third-party sites, everything is hosted locally.
The illustrations
Each mosque is represented by a series of original vector illustrations, created specifically for this site while respecting the real silhouette of the monument (number of minarets, dome shapes, emblematic materials). They can be replaced at any time with photographs : the Photo credits page and the credits-photos.md file trace the licence of each visual.
Respect for sacred spaces
These buildings are first and foremost living places of worship. Our "practical info" pages provide coordinates and context, but always research visit conditions (prayer times, dress, non-Muslim access) before travelling.
